Trinity United Methodist Church will have a special worship service on Nov. 10, 2024, in observance of Veterans Day. Veterans will be recognized and honored during the 10 a.m. service at 185 Boulevard St.
Northan Golden
Retired Maj. Northan Golden, USAF, will be the speaker. Golden served in the U.S. Air Force for 20 years as a Scientific Analyst, Personnel Officer, and ROTC Instructor. He began his military career as a Systems Test Engineer at Los Angeles Air Force Base, California, where he played a key role in developing the first operational GPS satellite. He later cross-trained into personnel and served as the Military Personnel Flight Commander at Aviano Air Base, Italy. Upon returning to the United States, he was assigned to the Pentagon as Chief of Officer Accessions where he became a survivor of the 9/11 attack on the Pentagon. His military service culminated at Howard University in Washington D.C. as an Assistant Professor of Aerospace Studies and Air Force ROTC Commandant of Cadets.

He is the recipient of numerous service awards. Originally from Seneca, Golden earned his bachelor’s degree in operations research from the U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colorado. He received his master’s degree in business administration from Pepperdine University in Malibu, California. He is currently the owner of Express Employment Professionals of Columbia. He is married to the former Audrey Gordon, of Orangeburg.
