COLUMBIA – The South Carolina Department of Commerce has announced the launch of its new online site selection tool – LocateSC – to promote business relocation and expansion. The easy-to-use platform makes property listings and workforce data instantly accessible in a clear format that businesses, site selectors, realtors and other economic development stakeholders can utilize while making location decisions.
LocateSC, powered by GIS Planning, provides data including available labor pool, economic indicators, business resources, commercial site availability, key infrastructure, demographics, targeted industries and more. The user-friendly, interactive data tool ensures that businesses evaluating locations can view commercial sites and buildings as well as research critical demographic, workforce and other business data.
“Our vision at S.C. Commerce is to embrace the future to ensure South Carolina’s sustainable advantage, and our upgraded LocateSC tool is one way we are using the latest cutting-edge technology to recruit and grow industry in our state,” said Secretary of Commerce Harry M. Lightsey III. “Having easy access to marketable sites is imperative, and the new LocateSC site will ensure that South Carolina is proactive, prepared and ready for business.”
