The 51st annual Festival of Roses kicks off Friday, May 3, from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. with the Downtown Orangeburg Revitalization Association’s street dance, to be held at the Downtown Market Pavilion at 1326 Russell Street.
Columbia-based The Promise Land Band will perform.
The street dance will include food trucks, games and adult beverages.
The main festival kicks off Saturday, May 4 at 10 a.m. and will last until 7 p.m. It continues Sunday from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m.
The event is sponsored by the City of Orangeburg and the Orangeburg County Chamber of Commerce. Other sponsors are Amaker Law Firm and Direct Auto Insurance.
The festival will have about 130 vendors as well as garden tours, bingo for seniors and plenty of food trucks, sweets, arts, crafts, retail and nonprofit vendors.

Orangeburg County Chamber of Commerce President James McQuilla said vendors row will extend farther this year than in the past.
“In fact, we expect to reach around the curve in the road,” McQuilla said.
McQuilla also said there are a number of groups that help make the festival possible.
“The Edisto Beer Garden, City of Orangeburg, DORA, the Orangeburg County Fine Arts Center, the YMCA and others are all working together to provide a Rose Festival experience like none other,” McQuilla said. “Yes, we have roses, vendors and food. However, we also have a fishing tournament, art for the kids and athletic tournaments leading up to a visit to the gardens.”
The festival will kick into full gear with shows at the Garden Stage. Shows will also be held at the Centennial Park Stage.
The festival will also showcase dancers, singers and musicians of all ages.
The festival will reopen at noon on Sunday, May 5 with the same vendors and food trucks and activities on hand.
A communitywide church service is scheduled at the Centennial Park Stage at noon Sunday. The service will include prayer and music.
