Orangeburg-Calhoun Technical College will hold three ceremonies honoring its spring 2024 graduates on Thursday, May 2, on campus in the college’s Roquemore Auditorium.

The 1 p.m. ceremony will celebrate graduates of Associate of Arts, Associate of Science and Engineering and Advanced Manufacturing Technology programs.

Business, Computer Technology, Criminal Justice, Education and Health Science graduates will be honored at the 3 p.m. ceremony.

The Nursing graduation ceremony will be held at 5 p.m.

Orangeburg Mayor Michael Butler will speak at the 1 p.m. ceremony.

The Atlanta native was elected mayor in 2013 and is currently serving his third term.

He is a graduate of Claflin University and received his master’s degree in curriculum and instruction from Walden University.

Butler is the founder and pastor of Victory Tabernacle Deliverance Temple of the Apostolic Faith Inc., and has served as an education administrator and social worker.

Roger Heaton, director of security at MUSC Health-Orangeburg, will be the keynote speaker at the 3 p.m. ceremony. Heaton began his law enforcement career with the Orangeburg Police Department in 1982, and has worked for the Orangeburg County Sheriff’s Office, the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division – where he worked his way up to assistant director – and 14th Judicial Circuit Solicitor’s Office as a career criminal investigator.

Longtime nurse Cassandra Williams is the speaker for the 5 p.m. ceremony. Williams serves as director of medical-surgical and telemetry services at MUSC Health-Orangeburg. Prior to that, she served as a nursing supervisor, float pool nurse and charge nurse in the progressive care unit at the Regional Medical Center.

Williams received an associate degree in Medical Laboratory Technology from OCtech in 1997 and a Practical Nursing diploma in 2000. She has a bachelor’s degree in Nursing from South University. She’ll receive her master’s degree in Nursing Leadership from Claflin University on May 4.

Graduation tickets are required for admission. The ceremony will be streamed live on the college’s website, octech.edu.
