The Orangeburg County Fine Arts Center is planning a Rose Festival Gala to raise money for children to attend art classes.
“It is going to be a wonderful evening of good food and music with the Joey Williams Band,” Fine Arts Center Executive Director Heather Rast said. “It should be a good evening and hopefully we will get the tickets sold and have a good turnout.
“It will benefit a lot of kids in the county so they can take classes that they normally would not be able to do.”
The gala is scheduled for Thursday, May 2. It will be held from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Fine Arts Center at 649 Riverside Drive.
It will feature live entertainment by the Joey Williams Band and there will be food, whiskey, beer and wine. There will be an open bar.
There will also be a 50/50 raffle where half the proceeds will go to the Arts Center and the other half toward the prize. Currently, money has been raised for a $1,000 prize.

The event is for those 21 and older and the dress attire is cocktail.
The goal of the gala is to raise money to help children attend some of the 20 art classes planned at the center this summer. The money raised will also go toward Art Center operations.
The fundraising event will be held in place of Showcase Orangeburg, which typically kicked off Orangeburg’s Festival of Roses.
The showcase event was cancelled in 2020 and 2021 due to the coronavirus. It was the first time the showcase had been postponed in its 27-year history.
Attempts to revive the showcase the last two years have been unsuccessful due to the lack of participation.
Tickets to the Rose Festival Gala are $75 per person and $150 per couple.
The single-person ticket comes with a one-year membership to the Arts Center. A couple ticket comes with a one-year family membership.
Those who attend will also have a chance to win a goodie basket.
