There’s a slight risk that strong to severe thunderstorms could hit Bamberg, Calhoun and Orangeburg counties on Thursday.
The National Weather Service is forecasting about a 15 percent to 29 percent chance of severe thunderstorms, with the main threats being damaging winds, hail and heavy rain, according to a National Weather Service brief issued Tuesday.
Thursday’s forecast is calling for a 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. High temperatures in Orangeburg on Thursday are forecast to be in the lower 90s.

The area will face the highest risk of severe weather during the afternoon and evening hours Thursday.
The storms may become severe with damaging winds, large hail and heavy rainfall. That could lead to tree and power line damage, as well as localized flooding of low-lying and poor drainage areas.

The chance of storms drops to 40 percent Thursday night and increases again to 50 percent for Friday. Highs Friday are forecast for the middle 80s.
The weekend is forecast to be slightly cooler and drier with highs in the lower to middle 80s and overnight lows in the upper 50s.
