Live music, a parade, food trucks, and a catfish tournament are among the attractions at this year’s Eutaw Village Festival on Friday, Nov. 8, and Saturday, Nov. 9.

Additionally, the American Red Cross will conduct a blood drive; a local animal rescue organization will offer dogs for adoption; and the U.S. Marine Corps Reserves’ Toys for Tots program will have a drop-off site for Christmas gifts.

This year’s live musical entertainment will be provided by the Promise Land Band, beginning at 6 p.m. Friday, Nov. 8, and the Olanta Band, beginning at 6 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 9.

Most of the events will take place in the vicinity of the Eutawville Town Hall at 220 Porcher Ave.

The festival parade will get underway at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 9, and will proceed from Miracle Drive westward along Old Number Six Highway and then southward along Porcher Avenue.

The festival was held annually through 1997. It returned in 2012 but soon went dormant again. The festival was revived in 2021 and the organizers created a partnership with King Kat, an established national catfishing tournament trail.

King Kat’s stated mission is to help new anglers grow in the industry and to encourage experienced anglers to continue to improve their skill sets.

This year’s trail will culminate in the King Kat Classic on Lake Marion, which is well-known for its abundance of large catfish.

More than 100 fishing teams from multiple states will be participating. The weigh-in will be held at the Eutawville Town Hall.

Again this year, the Pursuit television channel will be recording scenes from the fishing event to create a program that will air nationally early next year.

The fishing event is expected to have a $400,000 to $500,000 benefit to the local economy.

More than 55 million Americans go fishing in any given year, according to trade associations’ estimates. That’s more people than visit Disney World in Florida, and more people than play golf and tennis combined.
