Lander names graduates

Lander University conferred bachelor’s and master’s degrees to 270 graduates during its 168th commencement.

Graduates are Raykala Latrice Edwards of Blackville; Sherrelle Ann Infinger of Branchville, Golden L; Hannah Brookshire Adkins of Holly Hill; Anna Katherine McAlhaney, *+Tysheona Peoples, cum laude and Golden L, and Katelyn Marylee Powell, all of Orangeburg; Tyrine Jamel Mazyck of Vance; Sabrina Nichole List of Williston, Golden L.

Cum laude is a distinction awarded to graduates with a cumulative GPA of 3.50-3.74. Golden L is given to graduates who have earned a cumulative GPA of 3.50 or higher in the last 60 hours of instruction at Lander.

Wofford Dean’s List

SPARTANBURG — Wofford College provost Dr. Timothy Schmitz announced Dean’s List students for the fall 2023 semester.

Dugar honored at Charleston ceremony

CHARLESTON — Lexus Dugar of Orangeburg was among 70 students honored during the College of Charleston’s 2024 Student Achievement, Involvement and Leadership (S.A.I.L.) Awards ceremony.

The awards honor student leadership through the Division of Student Affairs, Residence Life, Campus Recreation, Student Life, and the Higdon Center for Student Leadership and Fraternity & Sorority Life.

Dugar received the New Student Leader award by the Office of Student Life.

Grooms named to RIT Dean’s List

ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Skylier Grooms of Eutawville was named to the Dean’s List at Rochester Institute of Technology for the fall semester of the 2023-24 academic year.

Full-time degree-seeking undergraduate students are eligible for Dean’s List if their term GPA is greater than or equal to 3.400; they do not have any grades of “Incomplete”, “D” or “F”; and they have registered for, and completed, at least 12 credit hours.

Grooms is in the photographic and imaging arts program.

Bochette honored by Emerson

BOSTON — Emerson College student Hailey Bochette of Elloree has been named to the college’s Dean’s List for the fall 2023 semester.

The requirement to make Dean’s List is a grade-point average of 3.7 or higher for that semester.

Bochette is majoring in media arts production and is a member of the class of 2025.

Lucado, Irick inducted into Honor Society

BATON ROUGE, La. — Megan Lucado of Springfield and Joceline Irick of Orangeburg recently were initiated into The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi, the nation’s oldest and most selective collegiate honor society for all academic disciplines.

Irick attends North Carolina A&T State University.

They are among approximately 25,000 students, faculty, professional staff and alumni to be initiated into Phi Kappa Phi each year. Membership is by invitation only and requires nomination and approval by a chapter. Only the top 10% of seniors and 7.5% of juniors are eligible for membership. Graduate students in the top 10 percent of the number of candidates for graduate degrees may also qualify, as do faculty, professional staff and alumni who have achieved scholarly distinction.

Area residents make CCU Dean’s List

CONWAY — More than 3,000 undergraduate students at Coastal Carolina University were named to the Dean’s List for the fall 2023 semester.

Students who make the Dean’s List have achieved a grade-point average of 3.5 or higher (3.25 for freshmen) for the semester.

Threatt named to USC Sumter Dean’s List

SUMTER — Emma Threatt of Santee was named to the USC Sumter fall 2023 Dean’s List.

Locals named to Anderson Dean’s List

ANDERSON — Local students were named to the Dean’s List at Anderson University in Anderson for the 2023 fall semester: Jaycee Gardner of Orangeburg and Faith Miller and Austol Youmans, both of St. Matthews.

To be named to the Dean’s List, students must maintain a 3.5 grade point average or higher for the semester.
