The South Carolina Senate has again passed a bill allowing people to use marijuana and related products for medical needs. Just like in 2022, Republican Tom Davis’ bill is off to the House. It died back then on a procedural ruling in the final days of the session, crushing the Beaufort senator who has been working to pass it for a decade. To get support in a conservative state like South Carolina, Davis says he has crafted one of the most restrictive medical marijuana programs in the country. Smoking the drug would be illegal. It could be prescribed for only specified illnesses like cancer, multiple sclerosis, glaucoma, sickle cell anemia, autism and some post-traumatic stress disorder diagnoses.
Activities during the day will include food trucks, live broadcast by WJBS 1440AM and 96.1FM Radio, Ultimate Gamers Mobile Gaming Trailer (free admission), musical artist Kerrisha Glover, Anointed Voices of God, and health information by Family Health Inc.
The Pentagon says Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin has canceled his trip to Brussels to meet with NATO ministers and work on Ukraine military aid as he remains hospitalized. Austin is dealing with further health issues following prostate cancer surgery in December. He was taken to Walter Reed National Military Medical Center on Sunday where he underwent nonsurgical procedures under general anesthesia. His doctors say they “anticipate a successful recovery” and his “cancer prognosis remains excellent.” This is Austin’s second hospitalization this year. He transferred his authorities to Deputy Defense Secretary Kathleen Hicks on Sunday.
Onsite registration begins at 7 a.m. Walk warm ups provided by Vertical Worship begin at 7:30 a.m. Registration is $15 per person and free for children 12 years and under.

This event is about making moves toward finding a cure for breast and prostate cancer. The aim is not only to raise awareness, and raise spirits for those currently fighting breast and prostate cancer, but also to celebrate survivors, and those we have lost. “When they cross the finish line this marks another year that they are cancer thirvers,” said Alfred Charley, Director of the Praise Out Cancer Foundation. “Raising awareness, spirits and funds – this is why we do this.”
“Behind every ribbon is the face of someone with a story of survival,” says POC Spokesperson, Malqueen Rivers. “And wearing a ribbon means I care, but raising funds and motivation others says I want to make a difference.”
