Six people were injured in a four-vehicle collision in Orangeburg County on Tuesday afternoon, according to Lance Cpl. Brittany Glover of the S.C. Highway Patrol.
The collision occurred at 12:59 p.m. on Interstate 26 westbound, near exit 149. It temporarily shut down traffic.
It occurred as a 2011 Chevrolet Equinox was allegedly traveling east in the westbound lanes of the interstate, Glover said.
The Equinox struck a 2022 Ford transit van, a 2011 Hyundai Tuscon and a Chevrolet Express van.
Three medical helicopters flew to the scene to transport three people to hospitals. EMS transported the other three. The extent of their injuries aren’t known.
Traffic was moving in all lanes by 5 p.m. Tuesday.
