2023 Orangeburg Christmas Parade

The City of Orangeburg and the Orangeburg County Chamber of Commerce will present the parade 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 8.

This year’s theme is “A Super Hero Christmas.”

Chamber President James McQuilla said this year’s festive parade will delight people of all ages and bring an “exciting twist to the traditional celebration.”

“Residents are eagerly looking forward to an array of vibrant floats showcasing the creativity and spirit of local organizations and businesses. The parade will feature energetic performances from beloved local bands,” McQuilla said, including South Carolina State University’s Marching 101 band and the Orangeburg-Wilkinson High School Orangeburg P.R.I.D.E. band.

“Their performances are expected to set the tone for a magical evening filled with music and holiday cheer,” he said.

The chamber president continued, “Families can expect to see a colorful lineup of floats adorned with holiday decor, each reflecting the superhero theme that promises to engage and inspire the children of Orangeburg…. The floats are set to transform downtown Orangeburg into a fun-filled winter wonderland.”

The parade will follow its traditional route down Russell Street from Seaboard Street to Magnolia Street in Orangeburg.

“The Super Hero Christmas Parade is a wonderful opportunity for our community to come together, celebrate the season and uplift our local spirit. We’ve worked hard, especially after our building was damaged from the flood, to ensure this year’s event will be an unforgettable experience for everyone, especially the children,” McQuilla said.

Local schools, nonprofit organizations and and businesses are encouraged to participate in the parade to create an “environment of unity and celebration,” he said.

“The parade is anticipated to attract not just residents but also visitors, enriching the local economy while spreading holiday joy. With the excitement building, families are encouraged to arrive early to secure their viewing spots along the parade route,” the chamber president said.

“This year’s event promises to be filled with laughter, festive music, and an abundance of holiday spirit, all within the whimsical theme of superheroes who inspire bravery and kindness,” he said.
