The S.C. Department of Transportation is opening new eastbound and westbound exit ramps on Interstate 26 at Exit 119. The new ramps will replace the current ones.
The Exit 119 interchange connects I-26 with U.S. Highway 21/176, near the border of Lexington and Calhoun counties.
SCDOT announced Friday it would be opening the westbound ramp at noon Monday, July 22. SCDOT will open the new eastbound exit ramp at noon Tuesday, July 23.
During the transition, there will be a single right lane closure on I-26. Traffic will not be detoured away from Exit 119.
Construction of these new ramps is a part of the I-26 at U.S. 21 Interchange Improvement Project, which aims to modernize the interchange and enhance the flow of traffic.
The project, which began in 2023, includes reconfiguring the existing interchange and frontage road connections, and will support the movement of cargo critical to local manufacturing and distribution centers.

The I-26 at U.S. 21 Interchange Improvement Project is a collaboration with the Columbia Area Transportation Study and is expected to be completed by spring 2026.
