The Town of Santee will celebrate its Diamond Jubilee 75th anniversary with a week-long celebration including a gala, music, movies, fireworks, amusement rides, golfing, and more.
Unless otherwise noted, the events are free and open to the public and will take place at the Santee Conference Center, 1737 Bass Drive.
A gospel music fest will be held Sunday, April 21, from 4 until 6 p.m.
A prayer breakfast will be held Monday, April 22, from 10 a.m. until noon. Please pick up a free ticket in advance from Town Clerk Willia Wright at the Town Hall, 194 Municipal Way.

A birthday celebration will be held Monday, April 22, from 4 until 6:30 p.m. Enjoy a slice of birthday cake while listening to stories of the town’s history.
A fireworks show will be presented Monday, April 22, at dusk at the baseball field.

Movie Night will be Tuesday, April 23, with free popcorn, hot dogs, and soda. Adults will view “The Bucket List” starring Morgan Freeman and Jack Nicholson. Children will be shown “Overcomer,” an inspirational drama.
The inaugural “Santee Open” will tee off at 4 p.m. Wednesday, April 24, at the Santee National Golf Club on Old Number Six Highway. Call 803-854-3531 by Friday, April 19, to register. The fee is $50 for a team of four. This 9-hole captain’s choice event offers a $200 cash prize. Proceeds benefit autism awareness efforts.
The Town of Santee will celebrate its 75th anniversary in April with several days of events for all ages. The events will include fireworks, a movie night, a golf tournament, a gala, a gospel music festival, a prayer breakfast, and a fun festival featuring amusement rides, entertainment, and food trucks.
The Merchant Walk will be held Thursday, April 25. You are encouraged to visit the Town Hall by Tuesday, April 23, to pick up the list of participating merchants. Then stop at each business on Thursday, April 25, and leave your completed list in the drop box at Town Hall by 7 p.m. that day. On Friday, April 26, a drawing will be held for the $500 grand prize and other prizes. Winners do not have to be present.
The gala will be held Friday, April 26, from 7 p.m. until midnight. Heavy hors d’oeuvres will be served. The Promised Land Band will provide entertainment.
Special honorees will be state Sen. Vernon Stephens, state Rep. Gilda Cobb-Hunter, retired longtime Town Clerk Rebecca Wright-Haynes, and longtime businessman William E. Clark Jr.
The gala will be a black-tie formal affair. For the men, dark suits are acceptable, tuxedo preferred. For the ladies, evening gowns or fancy cocktail dresses are requested. Tickets are $35 per individual or $250 for a table of 10. Visit www.townofsantee-sc.org for tickets and information.
The inaugural Santee 5K Bass Trot for Autism Awareness will be held from 8:30 until 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 27, on Municipal Way near the Town Hall, in conjunction with the Orangeburg County Disabilities and Special Needs Board.
A Celebration Fest will be held from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. Saturday, April 27, on Municipal Way near the Town Hall, featuring a Ferris wheel and other amusement rides, bounce houses, music, food trucks and other vendors. A “clear bag” policy will be in effect and no weapons will be allowed on the premises.
In addition, students at Elloree Elementary/Middle School and Lake Marion High School are encouraged to submit original drawings that depict Santee’s history, landmarks, and cultural heritage over the past 75 years.
Entries in the “75 Shades of Santee: Anniversary Art Competition” are due May 13. Cash prizes will be awarded for the top three entries in each of the three categories: grades 3-5, 6-8, and 9-12.
