The Samaritan House will hold its annual chili cook-off from noon to 4 p.m. on Nov. 9 at the Downtown Market Pavilion.

A variety of chili dishes will be available at the fundraiser which will offer family fun, fellowship, and an opportunity to support the 54-bed residential shelter.

Sponsors may provide financial support at the Nuclear Level ($1,000), the Red Hot Level ($500), or the Bold Level ($250). The donation of gift certificates or promotional items as prizes is welcome. Chili vendors are invited to compete in the cook-off. The entry fee is $50. Volunteer event workers are also needed.
Orangeburg County’s only homeless shelter reached out to the faith community as part of the ways it is working to generate more operational funds with a recent prayer breakfast.
The Samaritan House of Orangeburg County provides temporary shelter and stabilization services to men, women, and their children in the tri-county area of Orangeburg, Calhoun, and Bamberg counties.
