A Black-Tie Gala in honor of the Late Saul Rickenbacker Sr. will be held from 8 p.m. to 1 a.m. on Dec. 21, at The Premier, 1235 Five Chop Road, Orangeburg. Proceeds will be used towards research for the Alzheimer’s Foundation.
Rickenbacker, who is the inspiration for gala, was the loving father and grandfather of the sponsors. After a lengthy battle, he passed away due to complications of Alzheimer’s.
Orangeburg ranks 8th in the nation with people suffering with Alzheimer’s. In an effort to help reduce this number, the non-profit organizers are asking Orangeburg and South Carolina to help by purchasing tickets for the gala. Tickets may be purchased for $40 per person and $320 for a table of eight. All donations are welcome from individuals and businesses.
In recognition of the Rickenbacker Xcel efforts in the fight against Alzheimer’s, Gloria Rickenbacker Hutto Day was declared by the City of Orangeburg in 2021. Hutto is the Founder and President of Rickenbacker Xcel.
