A family-style restaurant chain’s Orangeburg location is listed for sale. It is still in operation.
Shoney’s at 1490 Chestnut Street is on the real estate market with an asking price of $700,000, according to the commercial real estate website Crexi.
The 5,363-square foot restaurant has been on the market since July 25.
Attempts to reach restaurant General Manager Matthew McAlister were unsuccessful.
A public relations official with Shoney’s took a message and said someone from the company would be in touch. No one from the company reached out in time for this story’s deadline.
The restaurant occupies about half an acre near the intersection of Chestnut Street and Columbia Road.
The Orangeburg restaurant is the only Shoney’s in The T&D Region. Six years ago, the Shoney’s in Santee closed its doors after two decades in business.

There are currently eight Shoney’s in the state, according to the restaurant chain’s website.
The restaurant provides traditional American-style food such as hamburgers, chicken, steaks, fish, sandwiches, salads and desserts.
Shoney’s also became known for its breakfast bar beginning in the 1980s.
Shoney’s is headquartered in Nashville. It operates in 17 states, according to its website.
Shoney’s began in 1947 when a drive-in restaurant was opened in Charleston, West Virginia.
Five years later, the name was changed to Big Boy Restaurants – only to be renamed three years later to what is now known as Shoney’s.
