Everyone is invited to attend the Orangeburg Branch NAACP 29th Annual Freedom Fund Banquet at 5:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 17, at Edisto Fork United Methodist Church, 356 Lariot Road, Orangeburg.
The 2024 theme is: “Voting: The Roadmap to Freedom and Justice.”
The speaker for this year’s event, Sharon Brown Harriott, will deliver a message about the importance of voting; “more than any other time in recent years, vital to our people and our country.” She is 18th South Atlantic Regional Director, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.

Dr. Margaret Morris, a retired educator, was named State Conference Woman of the Year recently at the NAACP’s Freedom Fund Celebration in Columbia.
“The Orangeburg Branch of the NAACP’s mission is to ensure political, educational, and economic equality of all people and to eliminate race-based discrimination. To accomplish this goal, we engage in yearly fundraisers. This event provides adults and youth in our community with the opportunities and resources needed for educational, economic, personal, and social development.”
