Founded on January 13, 1913, at Howard University, it has promoted academic excellence, sisterhood, and public service. The sorority has played a role in addressing social issues, advocating for civil rights, and empowering communities across the nation.
The Orangeburg Alumnae Chapter has been actively engaged in upholding the organization’s principles and values. Comprising women committed to service, education, and community development, the group has active in the local community.

The weekend celebration kicked off by paying homage to the founding members and the sorority’s illustrious history. Sisters from various generations gathered to share stories, reminisce, and celebrate the sisterhood that binds them together.

A special segment of the celebration was dedicated to recognizing and honoring the commitment and dedication of members who have served the sorority for 25 and 50 years. The following sorors were recognized for 25 years of service to Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. on Jan. 13 at the Orangeburg County Conference Center: Andrea Bradley Brown, Dr. Vickel Darby, Carla Haigler, Brenda Peterson, R. Michelle Snell.
These remarkable sorors are celebrating 50 years of service: Belinda Davis Branch and Carolyn Harris.
The chapter organized community service initiatives throughout the weekend. Chapter members actively participated in a church service on Sunday, engaging in spiritual fellowship and reinforcing the importance of community bonds.
On Monday, chapter members dedicated their time and resources to Impact Day. They provided essential supplies to the local Boys and Girls Community Center, ensuring that the center continues to be a safe and enriching space for the youth in the community.
The celebration was a multifaceted expression of sisterhood, community engagement, and commitment to making a positive impact.
