The Orangeburg-Wilkinson High School Class of 1984 has helped a handicapped Orangeburg man get around a little easier with their donation of a motorized wheelchair.
Orangeburg resident George Frazier was surprised with the donation on Nov. 18 at the site of the old St. Paul Baptist Church sanctuary at 760 Windsor St. in Orangeburg.
Jack Grayton, a member of the O-W class of 1984, said the class felt great about giving back to someone in need.
“He uses one leg to push himself around in his wheelchair. We feel great. It’s Thanksgiving. It’s time for giving, spreading love and paying stuff forward to somebody who can use it,” Grayton said.

Grayton’s wife, Melissa, said their family knows about the power of giving because the same chair once belonged to her husband, who underwent a kidney and heart transplant last year.

“Once he was discharged from the hospital last year, he was unable to walk. He was in a wheelchair that I had to push him around him. So his classmates decided to donate to him a motorized wheelchair,” Mrs. Grayton said.
Evelyn Jones Eaddy has a charmingly warm and gentle spirit that endears her to everyone who meets her. The 106-year-old is grateful to be alive to share it.
She continued, “The Class of ’84 presented it to him last year around this same time. Now that he’s able to use a walker, my husband’s no longer in a wheelchair. He uses his walker and cane to get around now.

“So they decided that they wanted to pay it forward to give it to a young man in our neighborhood that uses one leg to push himself around in his wheelchair, but he’s always in the neighborhood raking people’s yards. He does it from the wheelchair.”
Children across The T&D Region are thanking God for everything from clothes and cousins to health and home during Thanksgiving.
Grayton said Frazier was left speechless at the time of the donation.
