The Family Health Centers Inc. Board of Directors recently announced the appointment of Dr. Ernest “Stan” Wardlaw as the new chief executive officer.
“The board is very excited about what Dr. Wardlaw will bring to the organization,” FHC Board of Directors Chairman Julius Jones said.
“We are impressed by his strategies focused on increasing organizational efficiency, expanding patient access and improving health care outcomes. Dr. Wardlaw also brings a very collaborative approach to leadership and believes wholeheartedly in our mission, vision and core values. His extensive background in health care administration and his established understanding of the organization’s values make him well-suited for this leadership role,” Jones said.
Wardlaw has 30 years of management and leadership experience.
Prior to joining Family Health Centers, Wardlaw served as Chief Executive Officer at the Sandhills Medical Foundation, Inc. in Camden.

In addition, he served as CEO of the Shawnee Christian Healthcare Center in Louisville, Kentucky.
Wardlaw has worked in community health centers since 2007 as a CEO, chief operating officer, Ryan White Part C program manager, and site administrator.
He also worked with the Department of Health and Environmental Control, the Department of Corrections, and the Florence County and Clarendon County Drug and Alcohol Centers.

Wardlaw holds an earned doctor of healthcare administration from the Virginia University of Lynchburg, a master of social work from the University of South Carolina, a master of science in Public Health (Epidemiology) from Walden University, a bachelor of social work from Howard University and a certificate in public health management from the University of North Carolina School of Public Health and School of Business Management.
