The annual Orangeburg Branch NAACP Black History Calendar Tea will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 9, at Unity Fellowship Community Church, 2876 Broughton Street, Orangeburg.
The theme for this year’s program is “Guardians of Legacy: Preserving the Past, Inspiring the Future.”
Master of ceremonies will be South Carolina State University’s former head football coach Willie Jeffries.
In 2010, Jeffries was named S.C. State head football coach emeritus and was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame.
Jeffries has won numerous civic awards, among them the state’s highest civilian award, the Order of the Palmetto, and South Carolina’s highest award for outstanding community service, the Order of the Silver Crescent.
The Black History Calendar Tea is held annually to promote membership and recognize those who have made worthwhile contributions to people of color.

In addition, it emphasizes the purpose and relevance of the NAACP.
This year’s program will feature performances by the Celebration Choir.
Exhibit tables/posters depicting Black history will be set up by youths, churches and various organizations.
Youth will also be on hand to display their oratorical talent.
The program is free and open to the public.
