The Orangeburg chapter of the nonprofit Men of Hope continued its tradition and commitment to the children of Orangeburg County during the 2024 holiday season.

The Orangeburg division is led by the Deacon Ministry of Unity Fellowship Community Church located at 2876 Broughton St. under the leadership of Pastor Jerome Anderson.

“The group worked with Orangeburg County School District and its guidance counselors to identify 180 elementary students who could benefit from the initiative,” said Deacon Samuel Farlow.

The Deacon Ministry solicited donations from local businesses and groups to be able to provide each deserving child with a $100 Walmart gift card to use for holiday shopping.

“At Gulbrandsen, we remain committed to fostering community growth and giving back. This recent contribution underscores our ongoing belief in the incredible work being accomplished by Men of Hope and highlights the importance of supporting such impactful initiatives,” said James Carson, Gulbrandsen director of North American HR and EHS.

Not only were gift cards provided to the children, but volunteers were on hand at Walmart to assist them and their families as they shopped.

“We are so grateful to the business community of Orangeburg County and their willingness to support our effects, said Deacon Woodrow Morgan.

Anderson, who was on site to assist the families as they shopped, said “The true spirit of giving was demonstrated by Men of Hope, and we trust that God’s love will continue to be demonstrated throughout the year.”

There was also huge support from the legal community in Orangeburg County.

“Each year, my firm supports Men of Hope because it is an opportunity for businesses to partner with a charitable organization to serve our children and give back during the holiday season,” said Lakesha Jeffries of Jeffries Law Firm, LLC.

“At Chick-fil-A Orangeburg, our vision is to ‘Impact and Influence our Community.’ This collaboration presents a wonderful opportunity for us to give back to our fantastic community during this special time of year,” said Wayne Murphy, owner/operator.

“Men of Hope thanks all of its financial supporters, volunteers, and Orangeburg County School District. We are looking forward to December 2025 and hope to reach even more children,”  said Farlow.
