Jessica McCormick has been named the new assistant principal of Mellichamp Elementary School, effective July 1.
McCormick serves as a literacy coach at Mellichamp Elementary, where she has worked since 2017.
In this position, she has been instrumental in guiding instruction through data, modeling effective instructional practices, and coordinating teacher training on district initiatives.
Her efforts have significantly contributed to the school’s literacy program, including the successful implementation of family literacy nights.
McCormick holds a master’s degree in educational leadership/administration from Gardner-Webb University, a master’s degree in counselor education from South Carolina State University, and a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from South Carolina State University.

She is also endorsed as a Read to Succeed literacy teacher and literacy coach.
