Among those present were District Deputy Stormey L. Gillens 33°, the 27th Most Worshipful Grand Master, the Honorable Victor C. Major 33°, Right Worshipful Deputy Grand Master Lynwood Givens 33°, Right Worshipful Junior Grand Warden James Davis 33°, and other brothers.

Following the meeting, Gillens and Major laid a wreath at the memorial for the three individuals who were killed at S.C. State University on Feb. 6, 1968. The three were Henry Smith, Samuel Hammond and Delano Middleton (who was a student at Wilkinson High School). Twenty-eight others were wounded in what is now called the Orangeburg Massacre.
