Fire heavily damaged a home near Orangeburg on Saturday afternoon.
The fire was reported at 4:12 p.m. at 509 Landfill Road, according to an Orangeburg County Fire District report.
The homeowner told firefighters that she and others in the double-wide mobile home were asleep when the fire started.
A neighbor told them the home was on fire.
The occupants were able to get out of the home before the fire spread. They weren’t injured.
The fire started at the rear of the residence in the kitchen/laundry room area, the report said. The blaze damaged between 50 to 74 percent of the home.
Jamison firefighters were the first to arrive at the scene.
Wolfton and Four Holes fire stations were automatically dispatched there.

The Orangeburg Department of Public Safety was called to provide additional firefighters.
Crews soon brought the fire under control.
Once firefighters put out hot spots, they assisted the residents by retrieving valuable items that weren’t damaged, the report states.
The last fire truck left the scene at 6:32 p.m.
West Middle Fire Department also assisted.
The fire was unintentional, but the ignition source hasn’t been determined, the report said.
