A fire at a marina near Eutawville destroyed two campers and three vehicles, Eutawville Fire Chief Wes Griffin said.
The camper fire was reported at Lakeside Marina and Resort at 11 p.m. Sunday. It’s located at 107 Cypress Shores Road.
A caller reported seeing several campers on fire and hearing an explosion. The fire threatened harm to boats docked there, Orangeburg County Fire District Director Teddy Wolfe said.
Responding fire departments couldn’t determine the cause of the fire and then requested the Orangeburg County Sheriff’s Office and Orangeburg County Fire District to come to the scene.
The last fire apparatus left at 2:20 a.m. Monday, but a fire investigator remained documented the scene until daylight, Wolfe said.
“At this time, the fire has been labeled as ‘under investigation,’” Wolfe said.
