The Dogwood Garden Club recently met at Plant Depot and Gifts on Chestnut Street. The ladies’ mission – to create an eye-catching container garden.

Members arrived early to select the pots and plants that struck their fancy. After everyone picked a spot at the table, Sheila Dukes, owner of Plant Depot, welcomed club members and thanked them for choosing her local business for the November program.

Sheila then introduced one of her most knowledgeable team members, Diana Burnett, saying, “Diana is my right hand and my rock. When it comes to flowers, plants, and shrubs, she is a walking encyclopedia.”
Diana instructed the group about creating an attractive, balanced, healthy container garden. Based on her expert information, several gardeners modified their plant choices or selected different containers. Each unique mini garden reflected the creator’s personality and every one was stunning.

As a final thank you, Sheila pulled names for door prizes. Recipients included Roxie Milhouse, Marleen Gruetter, Nicole Huff, and Patty Pickens. However, as individuals carried their creations to their cars in the pouring rain, everyone felt like a winner.
