Cordova man accused of ramming girlfriend’s car with truck

A 22-year-old Cordova man, already on probation for serving as a getaway driver, is accused of ramming his truck into girlfriend’s car, according to an incident report and warrants.

Logan Robert Givens, of Dry Swamp Road, is charged with:

• Domestic violence of a high and aggravated nature
• Malicious injury to personal property valued more than $2,000 but less than $10,000
• Malicious injury to personal property valued at $2,000 or less
• Petit larceny valued $2,000 or less
• Violation of probation

The girlfriend claims she was attacked after the couple returned from a party in Columbia on June 1.

They got into an argument as they drove back home, she said. Givens allegedly snatched her cellphone away when he noticed she was activating the phone’s GPS/location setting.

When the pair got home, Givens allegedly told her she wasn’t going anywhere and “If you leave, I’m going to run you off the road.”

The girlfriend got out of Givens’ truck and into her 2020 Kia Forte.

When she started the ignition and attempted to leave, Givens allegedly slammed his truck into the front end of her car several times.

He then allegedly rammed his truck into the back of her car multiple times as she left.

Once she left, the girlfriend pulled over to the side of the road. Givens allegedly side-swiped her car on the driver’s side.

The girlfriend jumped out of her car and ran. She didn’t put her car’s gear in park, so it went off into a cornfield.

She ran to a friend’s house and called for law enforcement. She said she didn’t need any medical attention.

The girlfriend was able to retrieve her car from the cornfield and drive home.

When the girlfriend returned home, she allegedly discovered Givens punched her 55-inch television three times.

Givens was taken into custody and posted bond on Tuesday. Orangeburg County Magistrate Gary Doremus set Givens’ bond at $46,000. Givens is required to wear a GPS monitor and is not allowed to have any contact with his accuser.

If Givens is convicted, he faces up to 20 years in prison.

Givens is on probation for accessory after the fact to a murder.

He pleaded guilty to taking $100 to transport the man who shot and killed Jason Adam Gieger on Sept. 13, 2020. Givens also helped the gunman burn his clothes.

Givens was sentenced to 90 days in prison and three years of probation. He was given credit for the time he served in jail.
