Calhoun County has hired a new library director.
Boyd Bruce has been named the new director of the Calhoun County Library.
“I am excited to be here,” Bruce said during an appearance before Calhoun County Council on May 28.
Bruce will succeed Kristen Simensen in the position. Simensen had served as the county’s library director since 2005.
Bruce received a bachelor’s degree in history and minor in archaeology from Florida State University in 1988 and a master’s degree in library and information science, also from FSU, in 1990.
His career has taken him to Mississippi, North Carolina and South Carolina and three different library systems in Florida over the past 33 years.
Bruce has worked principally in library administration with expertise in planning, budgeting and customer service training.
