A Calhoun County man’s body has been found in the Congaree River two weeks after he went missing.
The body of Paul Chandler, 72, was found in the river by a family member at around 8:45 p.m. Monday, according to Calhoun County Sheriff Thomas Summers in a Tuesday morning Facebook post.
“Sheriff Summers and everyone at the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office wants to extend our heartfelt condolences and prayers to the Chandler family during this time,” the agency stated on Facebook.
Chandler’s family told law enforcement they last saw him around 3 a.m. on Dec. 3.
A concerned citizen discovered Chandler’s vehicle five hours later in the Congaree River at Bates Landing. That’s near the Calhoun and Richland County lines.
His family had been searching for Chandler since.

No foul play occurred in Chandler’s death, Summers said.
