Financial planning workshops are scheduled for local farmers on the lending process.

USDA loan changes are intended to increase opportunities for farmers and ranchers to be financially viable.

The workshops are for farmers who work with a lender, want to know more about their financial expectations and have a plan before meeting with their lender.

The free workshops will be held at the Orangeburg County Clemson Extension at 1550 Henley Street, Suite 200 in Orangeburg.

The meeting will be held Tuesday, November 12 at 7:30 p.m. A meal will be provided.

The key topics covered will include: 

• Reasons to meet with a lender

• What the lender might expect

• Evaluate business financial health, set goals for next year, and develop steps to achieve goals

A similar workshop will also be held at the Allendale County Library at 297 Main Street in Allendale. This meeting will be held Wednesday, November 13 from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m.

Coffee and snacks will be provided.
